Doing 40 Dances

Doing 40 Dances

The International Center for Writing and Translation presents two evening performances based on a poem-dance by Jackson Mac Low, The Pronouns: A Collection of 40 Dances for the Dancers.  In 1964 Mac Low (1922-2004), a friend and colleague of John Cage and often associated with Fluxus, created a set of performance instruction poems that were interpreted by fellow artists who were dancers and performers. His daughter Clarinda Mac Low brings "The Pronouns" to life in collaboration with the UCI community in an exclusive engagement.  Special guest artist on March 13: Simone Forti. Co-sponsored by Illuminations and the Claire Trevor School of the Arts.
