Grand Opening – October 22, 2017
Internationally recognized violoncellist Garik Terzian performs the Haydn Violoncello Concerto in C, -- a work many had called “[his] great contribution to the Violoncello solo repertory.” The program will close with Haydn’s e minor symphony, No. 44 – a masterpiece of motion and emotion, and a vibrant work that contributed to Haydn’s musical immortality well beyond Vienna. And the Valse Goes On…, composed by Sir Anthony Hopkins, in a newly minted edition by Ami Porat, crafted for a chamber orchestra setting, is the program opener. The hauntingly beautiful Oblivion by Piazzolla, written as a tribute to his late father, opens the second half. This performance will be presented on Sunday, October 22, at 3:00pm only at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.
